Patch management:
When a network scan is complete, GFI LANguardÂ’s patch management capabilities give you all the functionality and tools you need to effectively deploy and manage patches on all machines across different Microsoft operating systems and products in 38 languages. Apart from automatically downloading missing Microsoft security updates, you can also automatically deploy the missing Microsoft patches or service-packs throughout your network at the end of scheduled scans.
Network auditing:
GFI LANguardÂ’s network auditing function tells you all you need know about your network by retrieving hardware information on memory, processors, display adapters, storage devices, motherboard details, printers, and ports in use. Using baseline comparisons you can check whether any hardware was added/removed since last scan. GFI LANguard can also identify and report on unauthorized software installations and provide alerts or else automatically uninstall these unauthorized applications whenever they are detected on the network.
What’s new in GFI LANguard™ 9?
Detection of Virtual Machines:
GFI LANguard can now detect whether a scanned machine is real or virtual. Currently both VMware and Virtual PC software are supported.
Automatic Remediation of Unauthorized Applications:
GFI LANguard 9 allows the user to define which applications are authorized or not authorized on the network. During a scan, any unauthorized applications are identified and (optionally) uninstalled automatically by GFI LANguard.
Remote Desktop Connection:
GFI LANguard allows the useful option of a remote desktop connection to fix security issues on scanned computers that cannot be fixed automatically.
Extended Hardware Auditing Facility
GFI LANguard can now show detailed information about the hardware configuration of all the scanned machines on your network. All devices from the Device Manager tool in Windows Operating Systems are retrieved including motherboard, processors, memory, storage devices, display adapters, and much more.
A Fresh, New Look for more effective use of GFI LANguard:
GFI LANguard now ships with a new user interface which allows network administrators to easily scan the network to perform vulnerability assessment, retrieve relevant security information, analyze the results, generate reports and remediate the security issues detected.
Monitoring Dashboard:
The GFI LANguard dashboard shows summarized results of all scans from the database, providing an overview of the most vulnerable computers as well as security status trends for the entire network.
Scan Progress Reporting:
All errors encountered during a scan are now centralized for instant identification of machines that thee scan failed and for what reasons. During a scan, an estimation is given of the time remaining to completion, useful when scanning larger networks or machines distributed across locations.
Improved Reporting:
Executive reports are now available directly from within GFI LANguard.
Python Scripting for Custom Vulnerability Checks
Apart from VB script and SSH, custom vulnerability checks can now also be defined in Python
